Junior Team Tennis registration now underway

Published by Julie Harris on

Who’s ready for Team Tennis this summer? Junior Team Tennis is a co-ed, age-based team format for experienced players where the results of the boys and girls matches are combined into one team score.

We will form a number of teams (each team must consist of three boys and three girls) and create a summer schedule for each age division.

We hope to have teams for ages 10 and under, 14 and under, and 18 and under. If have enough register, we may have additional divisions.

If we do not have enough interest for a league as described above, we will still have Junior Team Tennis, but our goal will then be to form one team in as many age divisions as possible. We will then take that team to 2-3 other communities to play their teams.

Each team will have a manager, and we will be in search of willing volunteers. Managers need not be experienced tennis players.

Skill level

To participate in the league, players must have some playing experience. They need to have had lessons or participated in at least one camp, and they need to have played on their own or with a parent at least a handful of times. They need to understand the rules, be able to keep score, and be able to serve.

Registration information

Cost is $20 plus $4 TennisLink registration fee along with required USTA membership ($20). Includes balls and a team t-shirt. Deadline is May 25 to guarantee team placement.

Dates

Local League play will start in June and ends the first week of July. Specific times and days of the week are still to be determined.

Age cutoff

Player must remain the age of their division cutoff through 9/1/2018. For example, to play 10 and Under the player must be 10 through 9/1/2018.
